Dior Resort and Gucci Core 2027: A New Twist on Classic Fashion

On May 14th, Johnathan Anderson lined the stage of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with models to display an exciting twist on old Hollywood. At the Dior Resort 2027 event, Anderson’s designs spoke both of fiction and nonfiction in the Hollywood sphere. Anderson used his spotlight to honor the cinema of the city as well as the physical landscape; his collection ranging from vertical striped coats to honor films by Alfred Hitchcock, to gorgeous dresses inspired by Californian poppies.

Off the stage, the audience housed many prominent celebrities, many of whom are very well versed in the Hollywood atmosphere. Known for their stardom, the attendees included Steven Yuen, Miley Cyrus, Ayna Taylor-Joy, Taylor Russell, and Sabrina Carpenter sitting front row of the show. In the mix of denim and beautiful dresses, Sabrina Carpenter could be seen wearing one of the dresses inspired by the landscape of Californian poppies in a bright-spring sheer yellow.

On the East Coast, New York City was hosting an event for another big fashion name, Gucci. Styled by Gucci’s artistic director, Demna, the show-stopping models took over the Big Apple at Gucci Core 2027.

Demna’s show took over one of New York’s biggest tourist attractions, Times Square. Hub of Broadway, bright lights, and business, no place was better to show off Demna’s new pieces. This year’s Gucci core took inspiration from the city itself, much like the style of the Dior resort, by using inspiration from the people who walk down the street. Since New York could be considered the business capital of America, Denma filled the show with business casual-like attire. All types of suits took the stage that evening, ranging in colors, patterns, and accessories to accompany the look.

The celebrities who attended this event did not disappoint. Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, was captured by paparazzi walking into the event, along with Lindsay Lohan, Shawn Mendes, and Kim Kardashian, all of them following the theme to a tee.

It seems there is a common pattern this year of taking inspiration from the homeland of the event. Both Los Angeles and New York City were captured in these events, paying homage to the art of the location itself. Jonathan Anderson and Demna alike were able to dazzle the audience with a new take on the unacknowledged parts of each city that make them so unique. Nothing shows the appreciation for a place quite like its fashion.
