Wren and Herper's Avian Rhythm

Suppers and toasts for this evening might not be enough for here is a cap-less and a cape-less perusal of couture without cape or cotillion by Designers and Exotic Artists,

Wren Walker and Iris Van herpen.

Their works are truly phenomenal and potentially harbingers of fluidity, resilience, human nature and technology.

The Birds of Static project by Designer Wren Walker in early 2026 investigates how garment structure can influence the capture of energy from human movement and honestly?

Its totally giving birds and mechanics.

The concept draws on the principle of static electricity, in which charge imbalances can generate electrical energy when conducted through a circuit. W transitions this exploration into the modularity of bird feathers, the way they overlap, shift, and respond to air and motion, as a blueprint for garments that generate energy through movement using Triboelectric Nanogenerators (TENGs), an emerging technology that converts motion-induced static into electrical energy.

Wren Walker inspired less walking but more waking of technology and birds into couture and fashion with her project that speaks volumes about her taste and technique. Love her !

But, do get the slippers ready for Iris did a phenomenal job of exploring “the depths of the body in posthuman realities.” She quotes, “With the new realms of our digital lives expanding, we are faced with an eternally rhetorical question: who are we beyond our physical bodies?”

Through 'Meta Morphism’, she expresses the body as an elusive system, a body in a state of permanent flux, metamorphosing with the milieu while celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of her Maison with ‘Meta Morphism' and gently draws out her inspiration from Ovid's magnus opus poem ‘Metamorphoses’, written around the 8th century.

She uses an important element from greek mythology, Arachne, a masterly weaver who challenges the goddess of Athena and is transformed into a spider through shame, to hang from an eternal thread. In the collection, the tragedy of Arachne is translated in fine laces that are gradient dyed and trapped in embroidered webs, causing the trapped spiderwebs to float.

Other looks are designed as if Arachne is still weaving them, hundreds of unspun threads float and spin around the body which totally sent us into a trance. Her collection might scream phenomena, web and posthuman reality, but we?

We know the depth of her collection matching the fine wings of birds with the dresses on the human bodies showcasing freedom and heights and a tender touch of techno, Sparta and the lovely creatures of the sky.

Both artists have done jobs, incomparable and truly mesmerizing. But, do not forget ladies, more nice and delegate is about to come, from them and from here.

Till then,

XOXO, The Fashion Stock Market
